Starting a new job can be both exciting and nerve-wracking. Being well-prepared for your first day is crucial for a smooth onboarding process. If you are reading this article during your first day, you may have missed some important emails. Your hiring manager and IT department have likely sent you several communications regarding email account setup, device provisioning, and important documents you need to bring. Here are some key steps to ensure you're digitally prepared:

1. Get temporary login info and setup your Microsoft 365 account

The first step is to obtain your temporary login information and set up your Microsoft 365 account. You should have received this info shortly after providing your personal email/mobile phone number (depending on company hiring practices, may vary). If you have not received this, please ask your hiring manager or training partner to assist in submitting a ticket to IT to resend or get a copy of it sent over.

If you were assigned a corporate device, you can do this by logging into your assigned PC with provided temporary login info and following the instructions provided in your email. If you are using your own device, make sure you check your email for instructions on how to proceed.

2. Separate your personal and work profiles

It's important to keep your personal and work profiles separate. Make sure your personal items are safely stored away before logging into your work profile. This not only helps maintain a clear boundary between your personal and professional life but also ensures the security of your personal information.

3. Setup Microsoft 365 2FA

To enhance the security of your Microsoft 365 account, set up two-factor authentication (2FA). Visit the following URL, https://aka.ms/2fasetup, if you haven't been prompted to install and set up Microsoft Authenticator. 2FA adds an extra layer of protection to your account by requiring a second form of verification in addition to your password.

4. Install WRLD Helpdesk software

Ensure your device meets all the necessary requirements and is fully patched by installing the WRLD Helpdesk software. This software allows your company's IT team to remotely check your device's settings and apply any necessary updates. If you prefer using a corporate assigned laptop, consider discussing this with your management.

If you haven't received a link to download this, email [email protected] from your new company email and we will get you a link to download and install right away!

5. Set up your email on your mobile device

Stay connected even when you're away from your desk by setting up your work email on your mobile device. Check your email for instructions on how to configure your mobile device for easy access to your work email while on the go.

6. Provide necessary documents

Fill out and provide the hiring manager or training partner with important documents such as your W2 and I9. These documents are essential for verifying your identity and employment eligibility. Make sure you have them ready and submit them as required.

7. Attend security training

Depending on the service level agreement (SLA) with your company, you may be required to complete mandatory security training. Familiarize yourself with your organization's security policies and procedures. Additionally, consider scheduling a one-on-one training session with your company's IT department to ensure you have a clear understanding of the security measures in place. You can access your company portal after Microsoft 365 setup by logging into either (BOTH will work) your company branded portal, or via https://portal.wld.tech which you can find training and various other company specific guides.

8. Don't be afraid to ask questions

It's normal to have questions when starting a new job. Take notes and document any queries that arise throughout your first day. Remember, it's better to ask and clarify doubts than to remain uncertain. Asking questions demonstrates your engagement and willingness to learn. Those who shy away from asking questions may find it challenging to adapt and thrive in their new role. So, don't hesitate to seek guidance when needed!

9. Congratulations and embrace growth

Congratulations on your new job! The company is delighted to have you on board and support your professional growth in the technological world. If you have an interest in technology, the organization is eager to assist you in maximizing your potential. Embrace this new opportunity, and may your journey be filled with success!

Cheers!
